Never before has so long to wait for a car that was ready from day one because my existing lease

Since early 2011, there with me a Seat Ibiza ST 1.2 TSI style doorstep. For this I have driven in various leased vehicles, including a Ford Focus and Ford C-Max.

When choosing a new lease had to be more given the pennies. Hence the choice of a maximum addition of 20%. It also had to have enough space for a toddler and everything that is involved to carry.

After a search for the most suitable for our car we arrived at this seat. Many people opt for the 14% addition of the diesel. I wanted some more power and have the 1.2 TSI (ie gasoline) gone.

After 8000km I am very satisfied. The car drives very nice. He sends good and the engine torque every time creates a smile on my face. The load area is sufficient; a stroller with a couple of weekend bags fit easily.
Problems have not been there yet.

The interior is reasonably successful. There are some hard plastics but the parts fit well, and the whole is nice designed. IN the car is also nice and quiet at high speeds.
This car has the Climatronic automatic climate control and who like good though I think the airflow and then irritating.
However, the space for the passengers is limited. When you sit, you notice that the car is relatively small, especially if you just get off a Focus or Golf. In addition, the rear seat space is very limited. I have put forward the driver's seat when a car seat in the back seat state.

All in all I am very satisfied. It is an enjoyable car that meets our expectations.

We drive mostly short trips. That is not so favorable for consumption, which is about 6.5 l / 100km on the moment.

Never before has so long to wait for a car that was ready from day one because my existing lease still had to be exhausted: it is a stock model operation with a 15% discount was given on the list here. Despite being a company car, I have as yet received rider passed a considerable part through lower lease price. This made include Saddle Leather upholstery and a Performance Package consisting of 17 "Style" 285 "LM wheels (currently with Goodyear winter tires RFL), exhaust finisher and chrome grille as possible. Furthermore, all regular business of the Corporate Lease Business Line Plus Navigation Professional. The observant reader / viewer will see from the roof rails this BMW is a previous model year.

In this review I will often make the comparison with my previous car, an Alfa Romeo 159 SW 1.9JTDm, like BMW, after all, a real driver's car, which I drove for four years with great pleasure (and with no major problems!).

After the administrative actions, the (obligatory?) Bottle of wine and left a brief explanation at the dealership. After ten minutes back because bestuurdersmat had been pushed under the pedals. Fortunately, this was not -for now- infamous BMW car mats problem, but it was forgotten to mount only the fastening elements in the floor mat. Then no problems anymore.

First experiences, compared with the Alfa:
- Significantly less engine noise;
- Solid suspension, but I can now quickly over bumps than before;
- Car feels light, agile;
- No more understeer when cornering, better weight distribution;
- Less fierce, shorter resist and pull in 5th and 6th gear disappoints me. Read in other reviews that after several thousand kilometers is better. I wait it out. Should there be fair to say I've done it so far, very easy;
- I have (unfortunately) the ordinary chairs. Not bad, but they do not make it to the fabulous Alfa chairs;
- IDrive works phenomenal and requires only a short reaction time. I made a lot of test runs, but almost always fell (the operation and control of) the navigation / entertainment system especially against me. BMW is top notch. This also applies to the split screen functionality, built-in hard disk for music, programmable keys, and Bluetooth phone integration. My interlocutor does not hear that I'm in the car! An additional advantage of the construction of the system is that it does not get uitgejat every week, such as at various VAG systems;
- Open Handy separate upper tailgate Very useful to explain or address quickly as anything away;
- The rear is very fast scruffy compared to the rest of the car. Whether this is due to the novelty of the brakes, the rear-wheel drive or something else, I am not entirely clear, but I've already ordered a set original BMW mudflaps for the rear wheels. Not of said flaps, a small but not in the eye-catching variant. We will see.

Further delighted the dealer showed me a silver showroom model with Saddle Brown leather, when I said to want black leather upholstery. It is of course a matter of taste, but I think it's a great combination.

Much more is yet to say after 1500 kilometers. More to come!
On the road (10,000 km)

The first 10,000 kilometers on it. The car is noticeably smoother, brighter and more direct than in the first review.

Now I can also tell you about some things that got me in a negative or positive effect is noticed. Some items are what "more basic" than others.

But first the negative, then we had to determine:
- Cruise control: works fine, just no indication that the cruise control is active. A tag around the speedometer is restricted to the six-cylinder models (in conjunction with adaptive cruise control?), So I read elsewhere. I ride fairly concentrated, so you know when it is turned on. Still, I think many with me after an overtaking maneuver and again falling speed suddenly realized that the cruise control is indeed still on. At such moments one indicator would in my view still add value.
- Steering wheel controls for Entertainment: Arrow keys up / down to work in my opinion is exactly the opposite as expected: Down Arrow selects the next song in my playlist. With the screen on music playback, the weather does as expected, because you see the playlist screen.
- Voice control: I used a voice-controlled system where I could call someone without having to train the system through the command "call". BMW I have to train the system first before. Definitely a disadvantage.
- Calling through recently dialed or received calls: I have registered several numbers for most of my contacts. If I want to call from the list of recently dialed or received calls someone, I can not see what number I use in such cases. When I navigate through the contact list, I do get the choice or number I want to call the selected contact.
- The previously described separately convenient open top of the tailgate. This is still very convenient, but when opened automatically moves the protective cover upwards. After closing the valve boarded to have to drive, you will notice when looking away in your mirror that you are looking at on the cover and you can get back ... It would be handier if the tarpaulin when opening would simply roll in.
- Consumption: State already some 1000's of kilometers in 1: 17.8 km. This strikes me is not easy. Perhaps this is better, now the winter is past and the summer tires are down again among the last few weeks.

The positives:
- Engine. Pre still somewhat cautious about 318d, but the engine will over time good release and a diesel (for me at least) incredibly smooth and quiet. Pull in fifth gear is substantially better than in the first review. Only gripe remains the tension in the sixth gear when this (nicely the next shift indicator) from 100km / h have chosen. Which is really below par. I turn in practice rather only at 120/130.
- Start-stop system. Works flawlessly and quickly. Nothing to complain about.
- Installation and clarity of dashboard and center console. A disadvantage indeed again, because every other car I see, I get tired directly on the number of buttons and other frills.

The list of positive not previously mentioned points is certainly longer, but after 10,000 kilometers Freude am Fahren take some things for granted ... I think I once a week a car loan from a colleague for the next update ;-)
